PurityScan is Adware which displays advertisements to unwelcome websites directly from your browser. PurityScan will automatically run on every Windows start up and may download additional unwanted software applications. PurityScan proves particularly hard to remove and may only be partially removed when removed manually. PurityScan has the ability to reinstall missing components, rebuild and fix itself if tampered with.

How to manually remove PurityScan

To get rid of spyware such as PurityScan you need to remove processes, search and delete registry keys, DLL and other PurityScan related files from your computer.

1. Uninstall PurityScan from Control Panel
   Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs. Double click to uninstall.
2. End these PurityScan processes:
   purityscan.exe
   wapisu.exe
   ps_uninstaller[1].exe
   wnscpsv.exe
   ps_install-grokster.exe
   winservn.exe
   sear1.exe
   winservs.exe
   To stop processes press Ctrl + Alt + Del or click Start > Run > type "taskmgr". Select malicious process in the list and click "End Process" button.
3. Unregister PurityScan DLL files:
   backup-20060321-124609-355.dll
   41c6d56863.dll
   zvb.dll
   xulpcs.dll
   vzluoxiq.dll
   qyemk.dll
   rcagolbm.dll
   jdn.dll
   hakixk443.dll
   To unregister DLL click Start > Run > type "regsvr32 /u PATH_TO_FILE/FILE.dll"
4. Delete PurityScan registry entries: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\uninstall\purityscan
   HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\run aida
   HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\run brct
   HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\run contentservice
   HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\run eudw
   HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\run ifu
   HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\purityscan
   To open registry editor click Start > Run > type "regedit".
   Warning! Manual registry entries editing may cause damage to your system.
   Download Uniblue RegistryBooster 2010 to scan for registry errors.
5. Search and delete these PurityScan related files:
   winlogon.exe
   test117.exe
   svchost.exe
   shex.exe
