How to manually remove Personal Protector

To get rid of spyware such as Personal Protector you need to remove processes, search and delete registry keys, DLL and other Personal Protector related files from your computer.

1. Uninstall Personal Protector from Control Panel
   Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs. Double click to uninstall.
2. End these Personal Protector processes:
   un.exe
   personalprotector.exe
   To stop processes press Ctrl + Alt + Del or click Start > Run > type "taskmgr". Select malicious process in the list and click "End Process" button.
3. Unregister Personal Protector DLL files:
   inetprovider.dll
   To unregister DLL click Start > Run > type "regsvr32 /u PATH_TO_FILE/FILE.dll"
4. Delete Personal Protector registry entries: HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Printers\DevModePerUser
   HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-18\Printers\DevModePerUser
   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Personal Protector
   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Personal Protector
   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run "personalprotector"
   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce "suicide"
   To open registry editor click Start > Run > type "regedit".
   Warning! Manual registry entries editing may cause damage to your system.
   Download Uniblue RegistryBooster 2010 to scan for registry errors.
5. Search and delete these Personal Protector related files:
   c:\Program Files\Personal Protector
   c:\Program Files\Personal Protector\base.wdb
   c:\Program Files\Personal Protector\baseadd.wdb
   c:\Program Files\Personal Protector\conf.wcf
   c:\Program Files\Personal Protector\personalprotector.exe
   c:\Program Files\Personal Protector\quarant.wdb
   c:\Program Files\Personal Protector\queue.wdb
   c:\Program Files\Personal Protector\un.exe
   c:\Program Files\Personal Protector\q
   c:\WINDOWS\tempfile2.bat
   c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Microsoft PData
   c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Microsoft PData\inetprovider.dll
   %UserProfile%\Desktop\Personal Protector.lnk
   %UserProfile%\Start Menu\Programs\Personal Protector
